Like all parents, I’m extremely proud of my son. This week he has made me and his family even prouder with a brilliant first school report followed by receiving his 10m swimming badge with flying colours. He’s now saying he wants to swim in the Olympics and I’m liking the fact that he’s setting his goals high so early in life at the tender age of 5!
Back in May, in a hot Summer’s day (hard to recall us having any hot days this year but there were a few!), I took my son for some early evening photos in a field filled with grape seed flowers, not too far from us in Nottingham.
My son has been recognising good/bad elements of taking a photograph for some time now. On this shoot, he choose his outfit to compliment the grape seed flowers which would be in the scene. After taking some photos, we packed up and started to head back to the car but when we were leaving the field, there was beautiful lighting shining through an opening on to the trees. I really wanted to get some photos of him there but thought that I had had my quota of photos for the day. To my amazement, my son turned to me and said, “Look at the light on those trees, shall I have some photos taken there?” How could I say no. I unpacked my camera and got the last few photos for the evening.
He never fails to surprise me but for a 5 year to recognise beautiful lighting I think is pretty cool! He’s already showing a keen interest in editing photos so maybe one day, I will be passing over this part of my work to him.
Below are a few of the photos from our photo session – the first six you can see the lovely lighting that I was talking about it. Please feel free to leave a comment or share the page with friends.
